- Snow Foam Lance

The snow foam stage of a wash is one of the most important. It’s the stage which rids your vehicle of any loose grit and dirt that might cause scratches and swirl marks. Treating your car or motorbike to a snow foam before any contact wash allows you to get the most from each subsequent stage thereafter.
The snow foam lance works to create a thick clinging foam by pushing the flow of water through a mix of shampoo-based products. It’s this clinging foam that allows cleaning agents to work for longer, helping to dissolve and rid the vehicle of more dirt and grime than a quick jet wash would. Once rinsed, the paint is prepped in the best possible way ahead of the two-bucket wash stage, allowing much of the cleaning work to be done before having any real contact with the paint.
Made up of ultra-strong plastics, chemically-resistant high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and brass, it’s safe to say it’s been built to last. They come with a 1-Litre bottle attachment, complete with measurements on the side so you know how much snow foam you’re using, along with dip tube and filter. The handy injector offers adjustability to the flow of foam. Simply turn the top-mounted dial to get your preferred thickness. The thicker the foam is, the longer it’ll stay on the vehicle.
And don’t worry about all the different jet washers out there – we have 10 different fitments covering most of the popular makes of pressure washer, to ensure you get the right one for your machine. We have brand such as Karcher, Bosch and Black and Decker covered, as well as others. Simply choose the right connector for your machine and add to your basket. Although your branded machine may be listed, the connector needed for this machine may vary (For example: the Nilfisk pressure washer may require a different attachment etc.) Please note that the Karcher Professional Quick Release Gun does require an adaptor directly from Karcher.
**NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE KARCHER K2**
To use, unscrew the plastic bottle attachment and pour in the snow foam. Measurements slightly vary on pressure washer flow rate and outside tap rate, so start off with between 100 and 200ml and go from there. Screw the bottle back in, without attaching to your washer, and lightly shake from side to side to mix the solution. Attach to your jet washer – make sure it’s fully locked in before using! Then simply fire is at the car, adjusting the injector dial to your desired thickness. Apply to vehicle from top to bottom, ensuring every surface is covered. Following use, remove the plastic bottle and run the water through the injector head to make sure the system is clear – NOT at the car, obviously. This flush out will help give longevity to the delicate internal wire mesh filter.

We've put together a few simple steps to help you get the best out of Foam Lance highlighting what you should be doing to get the most out of Foam Lance when detailing your pride and joy.
Setting up the Auto Finesse snow foam lance: Once you’ve unboxed all your items, lay them out in front of you so you know what you have. Wind PTFE tape around your adapter thread, then twist the adapter onto the black adapter part – male to male thread. Ensure to wind PTFE Tape around each threading – this will help prevent any unwanted leaks and help your lance sit straight when attached to your pressure washer..
Use mole grips to tighten up the pressure washer adapter – this will ensure that it’s attached as tightly as possible – with such high pressure, you’ll soon know if it’s not on right. If it’s not sitting quite right, pad the thread out with PTFE tape to get it to sit exactly how you want it.
Next step is to fit the dip tube – this is the tube that goes into your wash solution. Make sure to fill the bottle up to the 200ml mark with snow foam, then fill to the 1000ml mark (as indicated on the side of the bottle) with clean lukewarm water. Tip the bottle up and down a few times to get a good mix of the snow foam and water. Don’t shake it, this will cause it to foam. You just want to gently mix the ingredients, ready to pass through the snow foam lance and onto your car. Attach the bottle to the whole thing, ensuring the dip tube is comfortably in the solution. You’ll then need to adjust the top to half way between closed and open. From there, you can adjust the level of foam that coats your car by twisting the forward nozzle.
So that’s your snow foam all set up, now all you have to do is point and shoot. As previously stated, you can adjust the forward nozzle to your desired foam level, depending whether you want a more watery foam or a complete snow over.
Once you’re all done with your detail, your snow foam lance will need cleaning before storage. If you don’t do this, the snow foam solution left in the bottle could mould up, causing it to be blocked. It’s best to clean it out after every use. There’s two ways you can do this. Dismantle the whole thing at the end and run plain, clean water through each component, or you can fill the bottle up after use (again, with clean water) and use your pressure washer to clean through the system. Once you’re sure there’s no snow foam solution left in it, leave each component to dry naturally.
