FAQS
How do I wash my drying towel?

Assuming you’ve cleaned and rinsed your vehicle thoroughly before drying with our Silk, Aqua Deluxe or Aqua Deluxe XL Drying Towel you can simply hang it up and let it air dry indoors, ready for next time. That said, it’s always good to wash these products periodically, just to keep them fresh. Cleaning your towels is simple, they can be hand or machine washed with a little Micro Wash Microfibre Detergent, before being hung to air dry. Always separate your drying towels from other microfibre cloths when washing, because these won’t have been exposed to any chemical products. If machine washing, limit the temperature to sub 30 DegC, and use a fast spin cycle to expel most of the water. Never tumble dry or hot wash, as this can melt the fibres. For more information on washing our Aqua Deluxe Drying Towels, and our other microfibre cloths, check out our article – How To Wash Your Microfibre Cloths The Right Way.

Why is important to dry my vehcile after washing?

Despite being clear, drinkable and pH neutral, tap water – the water which you’ve probably just cleaned your car with – is crammed full of mineral impurities. If left to air-dry, the water is allowed to evaporate off and these are deposited all over your paintwork. These may even require polishing out to remove the ‘spotting’. The best way of ridding your car of these impurities is while it’s still wet and they're trapped in the water (before they’re deposited on the vehicle), using a suitable drying towel to absorb them safely, without scratching, and without merely pushing them across surfaces. Rainwater on the other hand is relatively pure, which is why you don’t need to dry your car off every time it rains.

What is microfibre?

Although, we often use the word microfibre as a generalised term for a whole towel or cloth it actually refers to each fibre in the material. In order to be a microfibre, by definition, the single fibres have to be finer than 1 denier, which roughly equates to a single strand of silk. The premium cloths we develop have microfibres between 0.1 and 0.3 denier, which is up to 200 times finer than a human hair. Microfibre cloths are made from a synthetic blend of polyester - which makes up most of the structure - and polyamide (Nylon) used for increased absorption and density. These single fibres are also split to make them extremely fine during the manufacturing process and then woven into various constructions that have different attributes that are ideal for specific tasks. A split microfibre strand has a cross section much like an asterix (*), this not only means it has a hugely increased surface area, but that it can lift away fine particles within the strand itself. So, when these fibres are run across any wet or dry surface, they will pick up the fine particles or water molecules and hold them within the single fibres. This is why a microfibre will grab dust, grime and water, rather than simply move it around. Will one drying towel be enough for one large car?

Yes, when it comes to our Aqua Deluxe, Aqua Deluxe XL or Silk Drying Towels, a single towel is always enough for at least one car. These have been specially developed by professional detailers to tackle everything from estate cars to pickups and SUVs and even standard sized vans, without the need for another towel. That said, due to the increased surface area, the Aqua Deluxe XL does mean less drying passes on any vehicle, and the Silk Drying Towel is a twist-loop weave designed specifically to be fast, so you may find those a little quicker than a standard sized towel. The Aqua Deluxe XL product is also designed to be able to take even more water - all the surface water from lager vehicles like HGVs and large vans, or for use when drying multiple vehicles in a single day.

For more on how to care for your Silk Drying Towel, and give yours the maximum possibility longevity, see our guide – How To Wash Your Microfibre Cloths The Right Way.

Complete with a scratch-less, micro suede edging

The Silk Drying Towel safely tackles everything from paintwork and trim, to more sensitive surfaces like vinyl wraps and gloss plastics, gliding with a minimum of effort and actively absorbing moisture and mineral impurities, without merely pushing them across surfaces.

While often overlooked, drying glass, paintwork and trim after every wash is crucial to prevent spotting

Spotting is caused by the mineral deposits in tap water (the water you've likely used to clean your vehicle), this can be especially prevalent in hard water areas. Unlike rainwater, which is relatively pure, these impurities are nearly always present in unfiltered tap water and leaving your vehicle to air-dry will quickly transfer these heavy deposits onto all exterior surfaces.

The super-soft Silk Car Drying Towel is the ideal accessory for detailing enthusiasts and professionals looking to detail the most pampered paintwork in record time. This extra-large, 920 x 620mm premium towel has been engineered to glide freely across all exterior surfaces, quickly absorbing any water and impurities, and storing them deep within the fibres, far away from the most sensitive paint and gloss plastic finishes.

While often overlooked, drying glass, paintwork and trim after every wash is crucial to prevent the spotting caused by the mineral deposits in tap water (the water you’ve likely used to clean your vehicle), this can be especially prevalent in hard water areas. Unlike rainwater, which is relatively pure, these impurities are nearly always present in unfiltered tap water and leaving your vehicle to air-dry will quickly transfer these heavy deposits onto all exterior surfaces. In some cases, particularly on paintwork, polishing may be required to remove this type of contamination. Using a dedicated, and super-absorbent, microfibre drying towel while the vehicle is still wet and impurities remain dissolved in the water is the only way to effectively absorb these minerals, keeping them away from surfaces to eliminate the risk of inflicting defects.

Safe, non-scratching and extremely effective on all exterior surfaces, the Silk Drying Towel is constructed from twist loop microfibre to offer the fastest and most efficient moisture absorption, without the risk of abrading paintwork or any previously-applied protection layers. Although we use the word ‘microfibre’ as generalised term for the material, it actually refers to the individual fibres within the material itself. By definition, a microfibre must be finer than 1 denier, and we use fibres around 0.2 denier (about 200 times thinner than a human hair). These individual fibres are like tiny hooks that can hold onto moisture, and they’re split during the manufacturing process making them finer, giving them a larger effective surface area (making them even more absorbent), and then woven into the final material pattern.

Our Silk Drying Towel uses a twisted loop pattern, which refers to a special type of surface weave where ultra-deep pile fibres are bundled together, compacted and arranged as long, twisted fingers designed for the maximum possible surface area. This further increases the material’s ability for quickly absorbing and holding onto water, making the Silk not just the fastest and most efficient dryer on all vehicle surfaces, but large enough to complete almost any vehicle, without the need for a second towel. To learn more about microfibre construction, and how different types of pattern work, see our article – Microfibre Car Cloths.

Complete with a scratch-less, micro suede edging – which has been machine stitched for maximum durability - the Silk Drying Towel safely tackles everything from glass and trim, to more sensitive surfaces like paintwork, vinyl wraps and gloss plastics, gliding with a minimum of effort and actively absorbing moisture and mineral impurities, without merely pushing them across surfaces.

This car detailing and valeting essential is also durable enough for repeated machine washing, making it suitable for use over and over again.
