On Tour At Tief Im Wald 2023
It has to be said that we've spent a fair bit of time out in Europe this season, attending shows all over such as Ultrace in Poland, Petrol Brothers in Belgium and XS CarNight in Italy, we've also been to Germany once or twice, not least for the massive Tuning World Bodensee, and lots of trips to our European Distribution Centre, right next to the Nürburgring. So, bearing in mind that we've already spent half the season on various ferries, planes and trips through the tunnel, what attracted us to yet another cross-continental voyage to the Fatherland? That'll be the unique spectacular that is Tief Im Wald.
Literally translated as "in the forest', this one takes place right out in the sticks, near the small southern city of Suhl, in the Thuringian Forest. It's also gained quite the reputation over the past few years as somewhere between a traditional German car show and an uber laid-back meet that goes on well into the nighttime.
With this in mind it we also thought it was the perfect opportunity to get some serious road miles on our Nissan R32 GT-R and show off something a little different from the norm that you'll usually find in these parts. So, with the Skyline prepped and ready to rumble, and our VW Transporter loaded up with a whole load of the world's best detailing products, we headed down to the tunnel, on through France and all the way down to southern Germany to set up our stand and check out some seriously cool motors…
As the organisers state, this show is strictly for modified cars built before the millennium. So you'll find that the actual cars here are older than many of the spectators. It's pretty unique for German stance shows in that respect, there's not a Mk7 Golf or C63 AMG in sight. Most of all Tief Im Wald comes with plenty of character in both the cars on display and the unique location. Perhaps the best thing is that this event goes on after dark, too. As the sun goes down the lights come out, all through the forest, giving another level to the unique atmosphere of this event.
Anyway, as you'd expect, the most important thing here is that the variety of vehicles is almost as exciting as the quality of the builds themselves. Here's our extra special gallery featuring a whole load of our favourite cars and bikes that we stumbled across along the way…
The top show team actually lay on a few events throughout the year, this is by no means the only one of their little forays deep in the forest. In fact, their next event is coming up fast this September, so check out the Tief Im Wald website for the full details, and rest assured that we highly recommend making the trip. Especially if, like us, you fancy a cheeky stop off at the Nürburgring on the way home.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who attended the show and popped by our stand. We'll certainly be back. In the meantime, you can check out more top show reports, and see what else we've been up to this season in the Shows section of our blog.
