There are road trips… And then there's the Auto Finesse To Hell & Back Tour. What started as a handful of mates driving across Europe together has grown into one of our favourite weekends of the year. Not because of where we're going, but because of who we're going with. This year, more than 30 Team Auto Finesse cars from the UK and across Europe came together for another weekend of driving, good people and making memories that remind us exactly why we're all into cars in the first place. The cars might all be different. Japanese. German. Old. New. Track cars. Show cars. Daily drivers. It doesn't matter. Once we're on the road, we're all there for the same reason. Because we love driving.
The best road trips don't start when you arrive. They start on the driveway at home. The last wash before setting off. Packing the boot. Checking tyre pressures one more time. Meeting everyone at Auto Finesse HQ while the sun is barely up, grabbing a coffee and hearing thirty different engines come to life before pointing them all towards Dover. That's the moment it becomes real. By the time we roll off the ferry into France, the convoy is in full flow. Fuel stops turn into mini car meets. Service stations become photo opportunities. Every tunnel somehow takes twice as long to drive through... ...for reasons we're sure you can work out. It's impossible not to smile watching a line of enthusiast cars stretching as far as you can see, all heading in the same direction.
By Friday evening, everyone has arrived. Cars are parked up. The grills are on. The drinks are flowing. People who have spent months talking online are finally shaking hands in person. That's exactly why we put on the exclusive Team Auto Finesse BBQ every year. No rushing around. No schedules. No pressure. Just good food, good conversation and the chance to spend an evening with people who are every bit as obsessed with cars as you are. The stories get bigger as the evening goes on. The plans for tomorrow get made. And before you know it, it's gone midnight. Again.
Saturday is exactly what you'd expect. Cars everywhere. Engines constantly firing into life. Tyres protesting. The smell of fuel hanging in the air. Smoke drifting across the circuit. The soundtrack of rev limiters and anti-lag echoing across the venue. Some of the team spent the day on track. Others headed out to watch the drifting. Some never left the Team Auto Finesse area, talking cars, catching up with friends and meeting new faces all day long. That's always been our favourite part. People naturally gravitate together because they share the same passion. The cars start the conversation. The people keep it going.
If Saturday is about the atmosphere... Sunday is about the drive. For us, there was only one place to finish the weekend. The Nürburgring. There aren't many places left in the world that every enthusiast dreams of visiting, but this is one of them. Some of the team headed out for laps. Others spent the day watching from the fences, cameras in hand. Some simply soaked it all in from the paddock with a coffee, surrounded by incredible machinery arriving from every corner of Europe. However you spend your day there, the Nürburgring never disappoints. And rolling through those gates with over thirty Team Auto Finesse cars after a weekend like this... ...never gets old.
People often ask why we organise weekends like this. The answer is simple. Because this is what Auto Finesse has always been about. Not standing behind a trade stand trying to sell bottles. Not chasing trophies. Not trying to be the biggest. Just bringing good people together through a shared passion for cars. The products might be what introduced many of us. But weekends like this are why so many people stay. That's what the To Hell & Back Tour has become. A reminder that the best memories are rarely made sitting still. They're made somewhere between the fuel stops, the late-night laughs, the mountain roads and the convoy home. We'll definitely do it all again next year. Hopefully, you'll be part of it.
