TRAX, as everyone in the modified car community knows, is one of the biggest shows of the year. In fact, it's also one of the longest-established UK events of them all, hailing from way back in the "90s. Back in the day, too, this huge multi-marque gathering of all things tweaked was even seen as the official show season closer… and it almost goes without saying that we've been there from the very start.
Of course, nowadays there are far more events on the calendar, but TRAX has always endured, over the past few seasons reinventing itself as one of the biggest performance-focused shows out there. Between the club cars, trade stands and more than a few special displays, it attracts thousands of fettled vehicles, from all over Europe, bringing with it variety like none other.
As you'll already know, variety is a premise that's extremely close to our hearts here at AF, so that's why we've supported TRAX as Headline Detailing Sponsor for quite some time now. Being such massive show, too, we also decided to break out the big guns this year when it comes to our bringing along our fleet…
When you have so many show cars, you need a full-on artic to get them all up to Silverstone, logistics are everything… and of course, all that's without the AF Recovery Truck hauling our Mk2 Golf, the army of Swamper Sprinters, our MSRT Transits, Academy Detailing Van, the Airstream pop-up shop and the Revere X-Class needed to move the 30-foot trailer in the first place. As you can imagine, just getting there is quite the undertaking. But it's more than worth it.
Once again, the prestigious Scrutineering Bay was our home for the day - quite possibly the only part of the Silverstone pitlane big enough to house the store and all of the vehicles, in one place. A super early start and a full complement of staff drawn from around the many Auto Finesse departments, all mucking in together, is the only way to get all this fully setup for when the gates open.
So, what was going on our stand? Plenty as usual. Not only did we have most of our fleet perfectly prepped and on display, along with detailing demos - courtesy of our Academy Instructors - taking place all day. But, the AF sponsor cars were out in force, too. Our AF Selects Arena was rammed to the hilt with special guests.
The Airstream was fully stocked with all the essential goodies (and then re-stocked, more than a couple of times) and, being such a performance-orientated event, we also had our GR Yaris, M2 Competition and Twingo Challenge car on hand, ready and waiting to get out on the world-famous circuit. Even though time was just as tight as you'd imagine, James our MD managed to fit in a good few laps of the hallowed tarmac… posting some almost ridiculously quick times in the monster BMW we might add!
And, as for the rest of the show? Well, as suspected, it was something of a whopper. So, check out the full video to find out what TRAX is all about, and we'll catch you at the same time, in the same place, next October.
