Avalanche Watermelon 1-Litre - Snow Foam

Back by popular demand - Avalanche Watermelon! The citrus-infused, foaming pre-cleaning essential that’s designed to linger on surfaces for longer, Avalanche Snow Foam is one of the most effective detailing must-haves for the ultimate swirl-free wash.Capable of removing traffic films and breaking down, loosening and lifting grit and grime, this aqueous cleaning agent encapsulates sharp particles safely into the foam and away from surfaces, allowing these potentially damaging – and often stuck-on - contaminants to be rinsed away without inflicting swirl marks or other defects. This makes using snow foam an essential part of the pre-wash process, one of the most vital stages in detailing where the heaviest, gritty particulate grime is removed without making any contact with the vehicle. Avalanche also works its way into awkward panel gaps and shuts to effectively pre-clean the unseen areas, too.Sharp particles and heavy contamination can easily cause abrasion and inflict defects when dragged around on paintwork or gloss plastics with your wash mitt. So, for the safest wash possible, these contaminants must be removed prior to your 2-bucket contact wash. This means that following an effective pre-wash routine is crucial both on regular maintenance washes, and to limit the amount of polishing and correction needed during more in-depth details.Avalanche can be utilised as a first stage pre-wash product, or immediately after using a pre-cleaner like Citrus Power Bug & Grime Remover or Dynamite Traffic Film Remover on the heaviest soiling, in which case this product is safe to agitate into more awkward areas such as window rubbers, emblems and grilles with a soft Detailing Brush. Here the agitation isn’t to scrub away contaminants, it’s merely to ensure that the solution is worked into all areas, and that any spent product (snow foam already encapsulating particulates) is moved away allowing it to be replenished with fresh solution to work on any remaining contamination. Avalanche lingers to attack grime for the maximum possible dwell time and uses a specially-developed combination of cleaning agents and advanced surfactants to pull contamination off of surfaces on a molecular level. These surfactants are classed as ‘polar’ molecules that are both hydrophobic and hydrophilic. This means that they are attracted to water at one end and repel water (and more importantly attract grime particles) at the other. Using this mechanism, they are able to latch onto, lift and surround dirt particles, pulling them from surfaces and suspending them in the foam. Once safely extracted, this grime can then be quickly rinsed away. First rinse down vehicle using your pressure washer, being sure to thoroughly flush out any shuts or panel gaps. This will ensure that your Avalanche Snow Foam gets to work where it’s most needed – the stuck-on grime as opposed to loose soiling that can be easily removed first. Avalanche can be used here as a first-stage pre-wash cleaner, but for best results on the heaviest soiling, utilise a pre-wash cleaner, such as Citrus Power Bug & Grime Remover or a suitable dilution of Dynamite Traffic Film Remover. After rinsing, proceed directly to using Avalanche.

Add approximately 1-2 inches of Avalanche solution to your 1-Litre Foam Lance Bottle and top up with water, either from a tap or by submerging the bottle in a bucket of clean water. Screw your bottle to the Foam Lance body, and firmly attach the lance to your pressure washer.

Apply to the whole vehicle from the top to the bottom. Avalanche is designed for every surface including wheels and glass, and the thick foam will dwell on surfaces regardless of the application route. We recommend application from top to bottom (as opposed to bottom to top) to avoid pushing any of the heavier soiling usually found on lower areas upwards to cleaner areas. The objective is always to get the grime away from the vehicle and onto the floor.

Leave the product to dwell for the maximum possible time while it gets to work breaking down, lifting and encapsulating grime. However do not allow the product to dry on the vehicle, this is the reason we do not recommend application on hot vehicles or those in direct sunlight – it will shorten the dwell time and effectiveness of the product. A top tip is to ensure that your vehicle is cool to the touch, and to keep an eye on the glass after applying Avalanche Snow Foam as this will dry out first. As it starts to dry, the maximum dwell time is reached and you can begin rinsing. During the dwelling process Avalanche is safe to agitate with a soft Detailing Brush into awkward areas such as grilles, emblems, lights, window rubbers and weatherstrips.

Rinse the vehicle thoroughly from top to bottom with your pressure washer. Ensure that all traces of snow foam is removed and be sure to flush any foam from panel gaps, shuts and door mirrors. After rinsing the grime suspended in the Avalanche it is safe to proceed to your two-bucket contact wash.

How much Avalanche do I need to use?

Avalanche Snow Foam is a highly concentrated pre-cleaner, and an aqueous agent designed to be combined with water to dilute and activate the cleaning agents and other surfactants it contains. Surfactants are polar molecules that require water to clean effectively and, as well as pre-diluting the thick solution in the Foam Lance bottle, it’s also diluted as it’s drawn through the lance, passing thorough the special gauze to whip it up into the thick foam that lingers and cleanses your vehicle of contaminants. We recommend dispensing around 1-2 inches of Avalanche concentrate into your Foam Lance Bottle, before topping up with fresh water, and this equates to around 100-200ml of product. It also means that a single 1-litre bottle is enough for between 5 and 10 full pre-washes.

Is Avalanche suitable for use on a protected vechile?

Yes. Avalanche is suitable for use on any ceramic coating, along with vehicles protected with previously-applied wax or sealant layers. In fact, Avalanche will not degrade any protection layers at all, and it’s these non-stripping characteristics and gentle nature of the cleaning agents and surfactants used in this formula that makes this product ideal for use on any detail, including regular maintenance washes.

Should I apply Avalanche from the bottom upwards?

You can, but we don’t recommend it. The idea of the pre-wash stage is to get grit and grime off the vehicle and safely on the floor. When applying snow foams from the bottom upwards you risk pushing soiling from more contaminated areas, up higher to cleaner areas. The lower areas on a vehicle are typically the most contaminated so it makes sense to work from the top down to avoid the chance of inflicting defects unnecessary. Don’t worry about Avalanche lingering on dirtier areas for as long as possible, the thick foam it creates will do that regardless.
