AF Chevy Stepside Scoops The Top Spot At Tuning World
Tuning World Bodensee is not just Europe’s biggest tuning show, it’s also one of the most important for checking out the latest, biggest and best car builds on the planet. With over 1500 of the world’s most amazing showstoppers and nearly 900 trade exhibitors storming the massive Messe Friedrichshafen in Germany, it’s what you might call a little extensive. And, after having a great time at Tuning World 2023, we were back to witness all the action this weekend as part of our 2024 European Tour… but then again, you already knew that we’d be right there in the thick of it, didn’t you?
What you may not know however, is that one of the most prestigious parts of the whole event is the European Tuning Showdown where the top cars from all over the continent go head-to-head for one of the modified car world’s most coveted trophies. Many of the cars are actually built just for this event, too. But that trophy is now coming home with us!
Our 1954 Chevy 3100 Pickup is perhaps the most iconic build on the AF Projects Fleet. Originally put together back in 2019 for our 20th Birthday celebration, this one has recently come back from a full nut and bolt rebuild, along with the addition of a new paintjob and a whole host of new touches, a task that took the best part of 2 years to complete! This money-no-object project features everything from a 6.2 litre supercharged V8 crate engine and a full custom chassis to air ride, custom wheels, a bonkers custom interior and all the trimmings. And suffice to say that the smaller details on this thing are absolutely insane, too. Even if we do say so ourselves.
The fully rebuilt Chevy made its show debut at the Essen Motor Show right at the end of last year and it proved so popular that we just had to ship it back to Europe for the 2024 season. First the truck was a surprise special guest at XS CarNight in Croatia and now, just a week later, it’s gone and scooped the top spot at Tuning World Bodensee. We’re proud to say that it’s quite the achievement, and not something we saw on the horizon when we hatched a plan to build a real American icon all those years ago.
So, obviously we’re extremely happy with that result but, don’t worry, we’re not in it for the fame and fortune here, we just love our V8 truck - it’s a bona fide part of the TeamAF family. With that in mind all the prize money and sponsorships that come with the win at Tuning World will be donated to a children’s charity of the organiser’s choice.
