Car Polish
Polishing, compounding and paint correction – for many this is where a car wash transcends into something much more – it becomes a detail. And, while that may or may not be the case, we can certainly understand the sentiment. But, whether it’s hand polishing and simple paint enhancement, or multi-stage defect removal and corrections using a machine polisher, we make choosing the best car polish or paint glaze simple, with carefully crafted solutions and detailing products that range from our Tripple All-in-One Polish and Ultra Glaze Paint Glaze, to our full line-up of Revitalise System V2 polishing compounds and One Step All-in-One Compound along with DPX and MPX Dual Action Machine Polishers – all developed to deliver professional-level results in the hands of any enthusiast.
When it comes to exterior surfaces, car polishes and waxes are products that are often confused with one and another, so it’s always worth noting that polish isn't protection. With the exception of an all-in-one car polish (like Tripple), which will contain a wax element to offer some degree of protection, we advise seeing this more as a base layer or a stop-gap to get you by as opposed to a long-lasting level of protection. For the most durable protection once you polish your vehicle with an all-in-one, another wax over the top will always seal in your hard work, and offer the longest-lasting protection. Of course, polishing or compounding with a more traditional product (one that contains no wax) should also be followed up with a layer or two of wax, such as one of our Signature Hard Waxes or Radiance Carnauba Crème. When using a wax-free compound or polish, you can also choose a ceramic coating – just like the hardy ceramic protection that comes with our Caramics Paintwork Protection Kit.
Adding protection after polishing is important because polishes and compounds are abrasive surface preparation products that simply lift shine and clarity through removing oxidation and surface defects like swirl marks and scratches. Technically speaking, rather than taking away the actual defects, they level down the entire area around them until the bottom of the defect is reached, effectively making the blemish disappear. Once this is achieved, you’ll need to apply protection layers to add even more gloss, and to safeguard the surface from picking up more defects through day-to-day use.

We can also answer the age-old question – to hand or machine polish? Some abrasives, like Tripple All-in-One Polish and Rejuvenate Paintwork Cleanser, are designed to be broken down and worked through easily, making them ideal for both hand or machine polishing. While others have been specifically developed to cure harsher, deeper defects and are the best detailing products for use solely with a machine polisher. You can learn more about how microscopic abrasive particles are broken down when you polish your vehicle in our article - The Basic Guide To Machine Polishing.
We also stock a full range of machine polishing pads, including a selection of foam and microfibre pads to fit our DPX and MPX DA Polishers. To find out the differences, and choose what’s best for your project, simply follow our comprehensive guide – Polishing Pads: What You Need To Know.
It goes without saying that it’s not just your paintwork and gloss plastics that can be polished, either. More specialist abrasives can be used to clean and bring other surfaces, like glass and bare metal, back to life. In most cases, these offer the ultimate finishing touch to your detail. And, for this reason, we have developed a selection of car care products focused on these specific areas - Vision Glass Polish for cleaning and revitalising tired vehicle glass, and our superstar duo for bringing back the shine to bare metal tail pipes, wheel lips, brightwork trim and chrome engine parts; Mercury Metal Polish and Mercury Xtreme Metal Polish.
Finally, just to make sure you have everything you need to hand, we also have a variety of supporting polishing accessories - from our Swirl Spotter and Swirl Seeker Detailing Lights, to Pad Prime, Pro Polish Bottles and Pad Cleaning Brushes – along with a great selection of all-inclusive Polishing Kits ideal for everyone from beginners making their first steps in the world of detailing, to seasoned enthusiasts looking to top up their kit.
