Remove Stubborn Paintwork Contaminants The Easy Way

Why?

Removing stubborn contaminants that have found themselves embedded into paintwork takes a little more than simple washing, they need to be drawn out using clay. This is an important process though, and essential to prepare for the later stages of polishing or applying an LSP. But, luckily we have an innovation that makes life easier than ever before. Our Handi Clay Pads are just like a traditional detailing clay bar, but are designed to fit our Handi Puck system for unrivalled speed, ease of use and effectiveness. What's more, you can do the job during the wash stage, too…

How It's Done…

First your car will have to be clean and free of any surface contaminants. We recommend a full decontamination wash including using Iron Out Contaminant Remover to chemically dissolve metal particles, along with Obliterate Tar and Glue Remover (when applicable) to take care of any sticky residues. Once this is done, leave the car wet, and attach your Handi Clay to your Handi Puck.

As with any clay, you'll need a lubricant to reduce the risk of marring and make the process more efficient. So, start by spraying a spritz of Glide Clay Lube directly onto your clay pad.

Before you touch your paintwork a great tip is to use your Handi Clay on the glass first, this will thoroughly break in the surface helping it to pick up contaminants more easily.

Now spray your Glide onto the paint surface. Work a single panel at a time, using a full spray for approximately every square 20cm.

Now you can work your Handi Clay from side to side with light pressure, back and forth, in short strokes across the panel. You'll feel a little resistance at first, but the surface will become more and more slippery as contaminants are gently lifted away. When the paint feels completely smooth, move on to the next panel.
