FAQS
What are the differences between Citrus Power and Dynamite?

Although they are both used in a similar way, Dynamite has the capabilities to be diluted or left concentrated depending on the job in hand. Citrus Power is ideal for regular maintenance washes pre diluted to the perfect rate to ensure easy removal of bugs and grime every couple of weeks. Dynamite is better suited to the less frequent maintenance wash, where the exterior surfaces are looking extra grubby and need something with extra bite. For example, in the wet winter months when it's more difficult to wash your car as regularly. Although both Citrus Power and Dynamite are used at the same stage, they offer different levels of pre wash power so we'd recommend using one or the other depending on the condition of the vehicle in hand. Take a look at our blog post Citrus Power and Dynamite: The Differences for more information on these two pre-wash products.

Is Citrus Power safe to use on my wrapped vehicle?

Citrus Power is completely safe on gloss, matte or satin vinyl, along with all other vehicle surfaces such as paintwork, rubber, plastics and glass. No matter the surface, Citrus Power works in the same way to break down, lift and encapsulate heavy soiling with the potential to cause scratches and swirl marks. Citrus Power encapsulates these particles in the solution, allowing them to be rinsed away safely, without ever touching the surface. For more information on cleaning vinyl wraps, see our guide - Detailing Matte Wraps & Paint Finishes.

Do you need to agitate Citrus Power?

Citrus Power has been developed for contactless application, allowing it to break down, lift and encapsulate harmful particles on sensitive finishes like paintwork, gloss plastics and vinyl. This enables these contaminants to be removed safely without scratching or inflicting swirl marks, so we never recommend agitation on easily damaged exterior surfaces, especially on heavily soiled vehicles, simply to ensure the best possible swirl-free pre-wash. However for some tasks, such as degreasing engines, shuts or door jambs, or cleaning previously protected wheels or awkward grilles and recesses, Citrus power can be lightly agitated with a soft Detailing Brush for enhanced cleaning power. In these cases the agitation isn't to physically scrub away contaminants, but merely to refresh the solution on soil build-up, moving away spent solution (that's already encapsulating grime) and replenishing the area with fresh solution to work away on any remaining contamination. Can I use Citrus Power on a vehicle with a wax or a sealant?

Yes, Citrus Power may be a powerful pre-cleaner, but it's kind to all previously applied protection layers, making it the ideal pre-wash product for maintenance washes, as well as larger, more in-depth details. Citrus Power will not degrade waxes, ceramic coatings or paintwork sealants, in fact, when used regularly it actually helps to prolong the life and beauty of these products by helping to safely remove potentially harmful, corrosive contaminants that will degrade protection.

What cleaning and polishing products are best to use with a ceramic coating?

The great thing about silica-based (SiO2) ceramic coatings is that they’re specifically developed to help your vehicle look better for longer. The hardy protection layer they install is essentially chemically bonded silicon dioxide, which is like glass, so it smooths the surfaces enough to prevent water molecules and grime from bonding. Regardless of application to paint, glass, vinyl or any other exterior surface, this is why they bead to the extreme and offer the longest lasting protection of any product. What’s most important here is that grime will sit on top of the ceramic layer rather than sticking, and this makes cleaning easier. But it’s still important to carry out safe maintenance to stop heavy grit and grime from being rubbed in and abrading the coating and the paintwork, causing the infliction of defects. Using coating-friendly pre-wash products, such as Citrus Power Bug and Grime Remover and Avalanche Snow Foam will also prevent damage to coatings because they don’t contain harsh acidic or alkaline cleaning agents that may etch into the top layer. It’s the same story for the shampoo you use in your two-bucket wash. Lather Car Shampoo is a great choice as it will never damage previously-applied coatings, but alternatively you can use Wash 'N' Gloss Car Shampoo or our Caramics Enhancing Shampoo to actively top-up and prolong the life and performance of your SiO2 coating as you wash paintwork, glass and all other exterior surfaces. Other products that are great for topping up during routine maintenance include Aqua Coat Hydrophobic Rinse Aid, Lavish Ceramic Foam, Caramics Gloss Enhancer, Caramics Glass Cleaner and Ceramic Spray Wax. When it comes to paint correction, all you have to remember is that Si02 coatings have to be allowed to chemically bond to the topcoat or lacquer layer, so it’s crucial to use a compound or a polish that doesn’t contain any waxes or fillers, because these extra layers will block the chemical bonding process. For paint correction, polishing and refinement before adding a coating, we’d recommend using products that only reveal a true finish, such as One Step All-in-One Compound, or our Revitalise System V2 Compounds (which are also available separately). Don’t forget that SiO2 coatings are extremely durable and can only be fully removed through abrasion, this means that polishing your vehicle using any abrasive after applying a ceramic coating will remove the Si02 layer, meaning that reapplication of protection will be required after you polish. For more on how to prepare a car for a ceramic coating, see our guide – Detailing and Ceramic Coating a New Car.

How do I look after my wax when I wash my car?

It’s important to look after any previously-applied wax layers as much as possible during routine maintenance, and the same rules apply as for looking after paint, lacquer and other sensitive exterior surfaces on any other detail. Wax protection is simply a top layer that’s impermeable to water molecules and it protects paintwork by installing a physical barrier, and by stopping grime (and water) from sticking, this in turn always makes maintenance washing easier. However, it doesn’t mean that the wax (and the paintwork underneath) can’t be damaged through improper wash techniques. Carrying out safe maintenance, including a thorough pre-wash, is crucial to stop heavy grit and grime from being rubbed in and abrading the wax or the paintwork, essentially stripping your wax and inflicting defects in the paint. Using wax, sealant and coating-friendly pre-wash products, such as Citrus Power Bug and Grime Remover and Avalanche Snow Foam will also help to prevent damage to coatings because they don’t contain harsh acidic or alkaline cleaning agents that may strip protection. As for the shampoo you use in your two-bucket wash? Well, that’s crucial, too. Our pH neutral Lather Car Shampoo is the ideal choice here, as it will never damage any previously-applied coatings, regardless of if they’re waxes, sealants or ceramic coatings. At this point of course, you can simply leave the vehicle, or choose to top up your protection for extra durability and shine. You can use your original hard wax or, for the ultimate in speedy details, utilise Radiance Carnauba Crème, or Glisten Spray Wax. Do not use abrasive products during maintenance, though, as these will remove the entire protection layer, requiring reapplication of your wax.

Make light work of removing bugs and grime

The ultimate Citrus pre-wash purges all exterior surfaces of the most harmful and corrosive contaminants without stripping your wax, sealant or ceramic protection layers.

A key component to a swirl free wash

The pre-wash stage is one of, if not THE, most important processes in detailing and should be performed all year round. This is where the heaviest, and most harmful, particulate grime is removed without making contact with the vehicle. Sharp particles and gritty contaminants can easily inflict swirl-marks and paint defects when dragged around on paintwork with a wash mitt.

Ready-to-use formula

Supplied ready-to-use for quick and simple spray-on application, this advanced, contact-less aqueous agent uses powerful surfactants to break down, lift and encapsulate harmful particles within the solution, keeping them away from surfaces and allowing them to be rinsed away safely, without scratching paint, clearcoat, gloss plastic or vinyl layers.

Locks on to heavy soiling and pulls it away from surfaces

Able to power through the oil-based contamination and staining, making it suitable for light degreasing of car engine bays, inside fuel flaps, motorcycle engines and even painted/lacquered door jambs and bonnet/tailgate shuts. Simply spray on liberally and lightly agitate using a Detailing Brush. Here the agitation of Citrus Power isn't in order to physically scrub away grime, it's merely to refresh the solution, moving away "spent' product - solution already encapsulating grime - and replenish the area with new solution to break down any remaining grime.

Citrus Power can also be used as a gentle cleaner for wheels

Wheel waxes and coatings, such as our Mint Rims Wheel Wax and Caramics Wheel Protection Kit, are designed to create a durable barrier layer, smoothing out the surface on a microscopic level to help stop water, grime and hot brake dust from effective bonding

Citrus Power Bug & Grime Remover is a versatile pre-wash and a car detailing essential, that no detailing kit should ever be without. Designed to aid the perfect swirl-free pre-wash, this powerful blend of degreasers, cleaning agents and advanced surfactants safely removes heavy soiling, bugs and traffic films, without the need for scrubbing and without deteriorating any previously-applied car waxes, sealants or ceramic coatings.

So, for the safest wash possible, these contaminants must be removed before your 2-bucket contact wash, and this is where our flagship pre-cleaner can be utilised to attack, and safely extract, even the most stuck-on grime.

These surfactants are attracted to both grime and water on a microscopic scale, allowing them to lock on to heavy soiling and then physically pull it away from surfaces, surrounding any harmful particles ready for them to be purged by rinsing. For more information on the science of surfactants and degreasers check out our article – All Car Cleaning Products Explained.

Safe for use on all exterior surfaces, such as paintwork, glass, rubber and plastic - including matte and satin paint or vinyl wraps - while the gentle nature of Citrus Power makes it the ideal product for the most sensitive applications, it’s also able to power through the oil-based contamination and staining, making it suitable for light degreasing of car engine bays, inside fuel flaps, motorcycle engines and even painted/lacquered door jambs and bonnet/tailgate shuts. Simply spray on liberally and lightly agitate using a Detailing Brush. Here the agitation of Citrus Power isn’t in order to physically scrub away grime, it’s merely to refresh the solution, moving away ‘spent’ product – solution already encapsulating grime – and replenish the area with new solution to break down any remaining grime. Once your agitation is complete, you can safely rinse (or wipe) away the encapsulated grime from these areas. It really is that simple.

Citrus Power can also be used as a gentle cleaner to care for the most sensitive protected wheels. Wheel waxes and coatings, such as our Mint Rims Wheel Wax and Caramics Wheel Protection Kit, are designed to create a durable barrier layer, smoothing out the surface on a microscopic level to help stop water, grime and hot brake dust from effective bonding. This enables easier cleaning because dirty water will bead off and gritty particulates will fall away, or merely sit on top of surfaces. By using Citrus Power here, there’s no need for powerful wheel cleaners or contaminant removers to remove any potentially harmful pollutants, because the advanced cleaning agents contained within the Citrus Power formula work to complement protection layers by gently lifting grime from surfaces and allowing it to be rinsed away safely. Regular removal of this corrosive contamination also helps prolong the life, and the finish, of your protection layers.

In addition to our 1-Litre bottle, Citrus Power Bug & Grime Remover is also available in 500ml and 5-Litre containers, and ideal for easy use with our Pressure Sprayer
